Forough Farrokhzad published her first collection of poems named Asir (The Captive) in 1955. Forough traveled to Europe for the first time in July 1956, embarking on a nine-month journey that began in Tehran. That same year, she produced her second collection of poems, Divar (The Wall), with twenty-five short verses devoted to her previous spouse. UNESCO created a thirty-minute film on Forough in 1963. In addition, filmmaker Bernardo Bertolucci traveled to Iran to interview her and ultimately chose to make a fifteen-minute film on the poet’s life.
