Kristen Bicknell Early Life

Kristen was born on December 29, 1986, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. There is not much we know about her childhood. However, we know her parents didn’t like her playing poker and did not support her when she started playing poker at her 18. Her parents did not believe she could make a living from playing poker. However, they changed their minds when she started to play poker professionally and made big wins. Her mother then became her biggest fan and supporter.

Love At The First Hand!

Bicknell was a big fan of the famous NBC poker show Poker After Dark, in which professional poker players went head-to-head in Vegas. The show was aired on January 1, 2007, and continued for 13 seasons until October 4, 2021. She particularly loved Jennifer Hartmann, one of the best pro female poker players. Hartman was Kristen’s primary inspiration to become a pro poker player.

Kristen started to play online poker in 2006 during her freshman year in college. One night, her roommates introduced Kristen and her ex-boyfriend, Adam — aka “Fishbones11”- to the game, and she instantly fell in love with the magic of cards! They enjoyed the game so much that they played heads-up for about 12 hours that night until morning! That was just the beginning. They started to host little home games and basically searched out any local games they could find. She then continued to play millions of hands online which ultimately earned her the title “Ultimate Grinder” that she worked so damn hard to defend.

Bicknell Poker Achievements

Her first big win came in 2013 at WSOP, where she played in the $1,000 Ladies No Limit Hold ’em Championship, finished in first place, won $173,922, and earned her first gold bracelet. This was the time when she transitioned to live poker. Three years later, in 2016, Kristen won the WSOP $1,500 No-Limit hold’em bounty event and walked away with $290,768 winning her second bracelet. In 2018 and 2019, Kristen absolutely dominated live poker competitions. However, she turned to online tournaments when the COVID pandemic came along in 2020. Kristen won her third WSOP bracelet during the COVID pandemic in 2020. She played in Event #44: $2,500 NLHE 6-Handed and walked away with a $356,412 prize. Since then, most of her wins have been five digits or less. For this reason, she was the third most successful female poker player in 2022 and early 2023.

Kristen is the only female poker player reaching Supernova Elite status on PokerStars three years in a row by playing at the $1/2 and $2/4 cash game tables, playing as many as 24 tables at a time. SES is the biggest achievement any online cash game grinder can accomplish.

On a sunny day, the poker power couple, Alex and Kristen Foxen celebrated their love in a beautiful little oceanside ceremony with their close friends and family in the luxurious and tropical Florida Keys.
