Seyyed Shahab Hosseini (شهاب حسینی) is a well-known Iranian superstar.

He was born on February 3rd, 1974, in Tehran, but his family is initially from Ramsar, a city in the north of Iran.

He has a high school diploma in humanities. He later enrolled in university in a psychology field, but he dropped out and did not complete his studies.

He dropped out of university to join his uncle in Canada, where he wished to move, but still, he lives in Iran and didn’t migrate to Canada.

Shahab Family

His family is initially from Ramsar in Mazandaran province, and he has one brother named Mahdi, a musician, and two sisters who we don’t know their names.

Also, he was the first child and the playful kid of his family. His father, Seyyed Fakhreddin Hosseini, was a teacher interested in translating and writing books, and he published several translated novels. Shahab Hosseini’s father died in February 2015.

His mother was a social worker, and because of her job, they had to move to Khorram Abad in Lorestan province for some years during his childhood.

Marriage and Wife

Shahab married Parichehr Ghanbari (پریچهر قنبری), who was his colleague in theatre. These two married in 1995 when Shahab was only 22 years old.

They have two sons named Mohammad Amin, born in 2003, and Amir Ali, born in 2011. This couple is still happily together.

When Did Shahab Hosseini Start Acting?

Shahab Hosseini began acting at the age of 19 in 1992 by attending Samandarian master courses. Within a year, he had managed to learn varieties of acting skills.

In 2000, he had his television debut in the series “After the Rain” In 2002. Also, he acted in his first movie in Amir Ghavidel’s film, “Rokhsareh.”

The first television series Shahab played a role in was “After the Rain,” which became popular among Iranians.

His role was Ali, and he played with well-known actresses like Soraya Ghasemi and Katayoun Riahi. “After the Rain” is one of those shows that Iranians still recall as a powerful piece of work.

The second television series that Shahab Hosseini acted in was “Police Javan”(Young Police) in 2001.

Shahab played the leading role named Yunes, who became the police and searched for the murderer of his father.

In his first years of acting, he played in this movie, and he was nominated for a Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Supporting Actor at the Fajr Festival for his role as Babak.

3. Salvation at 8:20 (رستگاری در 28 دقیقه)

In 2005, he acted as Foad in this movie and was nominated as the Best Supporting Actor at Fajr Festival.

4. Mahya  (محیا)

This movie was a great success because of Shahab’s professional acting. He played the role of Javid in 2007. Javid was a medical student who fell in love with his classmate. The story continues with him proving his love.

He won the Best Actor Award at Fajr Film Festival for acting in this movie.

5. Heartbroken (دلشکسته)

This movie, released in 2009, is one of those films that no Iranian can say they haven’t watched.

The story is about a girl and boy who have different thinking and lifestyles but fall in love anyway. The movie has such a sweet outline that we recommend you watch it.

“Heartbroken” was a big step for Shahab Hosseini to more success and fame.

6. About Elly (درباره الی)

A movie full of superstars was released in 2009 and got several awards.

Shahab played in this movie with other superstars like Golshifteh Farahani, Taraneh Alidoosti, Peyman Moaadi, and some others.

Shahab and the movie itself received numerous local and international awards.

7. Superstar (سوپراستار)

At the Fajr Festival, Hosseini won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor for acting in this movie.

“Superstar” was released in 2009 and received a lot of attention in a short period of time.

8. Separation of Nader And Simin (جدایی نادر از سیمین)

Here is the most memorable movie from Shahab Hosseini. “Separation of Nader And Simin” was the movie in which Shahab got his first international award.

He, along with other male actors of this movie, won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2011. Also, he received several other local awards.

The Iranian people were delighted to get this award, which was the first in Iranian cinema’s history.

He got the Best Actor Award at the American Action Film Festival for his role in “Hush! Girls Don’t Scream” in the same year.

Shahab as a Director

In 2014, Shahab Hosseini made his directorial debut with “Resident of the Middle Floor,” a film about a man who moves into a new building and encounters unexpected experiences.

With Alireza Nesai and Sina Azin, he directed the short film “Come with me” in 2016. “The Residents of Nowhere” is his most recent film as a director in 2018.
