Siavash Ghomayshi (سیاوش قمیشی) is a famous Iranian singer, songwriter, and musician. Siavash was born on 11th June 1945 in Ahvaz, Iran.
He had always been interested in music and began writing songs at the age of 14 with “Boatman” for Zia and soon began releasing his albums; Ghomayshi has released 18 albums and 15 singles.
He’s one of those singers who is well-known among all Iranians.
Siavash Ghomayshi’s Education
When Siavash was 14 years old, he joined his siblings in London for his education. Siavash Ghomayshi received a Master’s degree in music from the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
He majored in Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music. Az a pianist and singer, he collaborated with bands such as Rebels and Insects in the United Kingdom for some years.
The Start of His Career
Siavash began his career as a composer when he returned to Iran at the age of 25 and has composed music for several Iranian singers, including Zia, Betty, and Ebi.
Although he began his career as a composer, he recorded his first album called “Farangis” in the final years of the Pahlavi period (before the Islamic Revolution). Since then he has worked as a singer, songwriter, and lyricist.
Siavash left Iran alongside other musicians when he was 34 years old. He decided to leave Iran because of the unclear situations of music business during the Islamic Revolution.
He immigrated to United States, and since then, he has been living in Los Angeles. In 1980, he released his first album in Los Angeles called “Khabe baroon” (dream of rain).
He married Leila Vesal when he was 29 years old, and they have a son named Alireza. Siavash divorced Leila and had five more marriages, all of which ended in divorce.

The lyrics are one of his songs’ strongest features. Lyrics are simple, pleasant, and meaningful; many of his songs have gloomy lyrics that are soothing and relaxing to the psyche.
